Established in 1990, The Backyard Collaborative Inc. (tbc) was incorporated in 1993, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Primary offices are located in Billerica, Massachusetts. The Corporation offers services to the construction industry including: architecture, building, estimating, general contracting and construction management, to both private and public sector clients. The Corporation is a family owned and operated business with a Board of Directors consisting of three individuals David (President), Paul (Vice President), and Claudia Kinsella (Secretary). Both David A. Kinsella and Paul G. Kinsella hold ownership.

Projects completed by staff of The Backyard Collaborative, Inc. (tbc) have been primarily in Massachusetts, however, tbc staff have completed projects in the states of Connecticut, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The Backyard Collaborative, Inc. has enjoyed continued growth since 1990 with annual sales peaking $2.4 million in the year 2000 and receding to $1.1 million in 2002. Management intentionally curbed growth after 2000, to restructure management of the company in order to find and develop the appropriate people within the organization and refocus on our initial founding premise which is to provide quality services at market value. At present, tbc employs 10 persons. The corporation primarily employs persons within Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, but on an as needed basis has hired persons in the vicinity of a project, and is willing to staff satellite offices, when a project requires it. Tbc is an equal opportunity employer.

Current employees hold licenses for Unrestricted Construction Supervision in Massachusetts, and the practice of Architecture in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, with NCARB Certification available for any state in the USA. The Corporation is a licensed Home Improvement Contractor in Massachusetts. Tbc's staff consists of an architect (licensed in MA & NH, and NCARB certified), two designers, three construction managers, an administrative assistant and one financial manager and human resources.

The Backyard Collaborative, Inc. (tbc) practice to date has included public work such as court houses, town halls, schools, and private sector work including: housing, industrial, restoration/rehabilitation/ and preservation of buildings. Specific staff experience has worked on projects including: operation control centers, light rail design, high and low rise multi and single family housing, industrial, retail, courthouses, fire, police and safety buildings, school buildings, medical and biotechnical lab space, a power plant for an airport, offices, religious, and assembly buildings.

The firm's work and expertise has been sought after respectively by the local media and featured in the Billerica Minuteman, and Lowell Sun. Mr. David A. Kinsella AIA, NCARB, has had design work that he has participated in featured in the Lowell Sun, Boston Herald, Construction Cost Data, and Architectural Record.
